Have you seen the round net on the ground and 4 players chasing the yellow ball, trying to knock it into the net so the other team can't reach it? Then it's Spikeball you've seen. The fun game has caught on in gardens and parks all over the world and can be played both for fun and for competition.
Spikeball is one of the most well-known and popular manufacturers of equipment for the sport of Roundnet. The sport is often known as Spikeball too, and you've probably seen it being played in the park or on the beach: 4 players in teams of 2 competing to smash the yellow ball into the round net on the ground.
Spikeball is a fun activity in the garden and on the beach
Whether you're getting together with friends or family in the garden or on the beach, Spikeball is easy to bring along. It doesn't take much time to set up, and after a short introduction everyone can join in.
Spikeball can also be played indoors if there's space for it. A stray ball is soft and doesn't damage anything, but it might knock over a glass or a vase if you're not careful.
The rules of Spikeball - how to play
In Spikeball and roundnet you play 2 against 2, and the aim is to make the opponents lose the ball. It works just like volleyball, but instead of hitting the ball over the net, it has to be knocked down and bounce off the round net on the ground. Each team has 3 touches on the ball before it must be knocked into the net for the other team. The ball may not be caught, and the same player may not touch it twice in a row. It must therefore be passed between players on the same team by tapping it up into the air to each other.
A point starts with one team serving by hitting the ball into the net towards the other team, and a point ends when the ball hits the ground, or if a team fails to hit it back into the net on the 3rd touch. You can read much more about the Spikeball rules on Spikeball's own website.
